Sculpture and InstallationPlay and Exploration
In my installation work, I strive to create full body experiences through use of my sculpture, audio, and transforming a space. In this gallery you will see examples of work I have created ranging from a full room cardboard fort to a chaotic memory drawer. It is difficult to capture the full experience in photographs, but hopefully this gallery can give you an idea of how the space was transformed and the experiences shared. |
MuralsFrom Spray Painting to Getting Hired at School
I always loved the spray painted murals all around Boston and Salvador growing up. I always wanted to create art of my own, especially in collaboration with others. One day, I finally bought a can of spray paint, and with my friend David we painted a mural in my old garage that my cousin had recently renovated. From there I fell in love with murals and always volunteered to help add a piece to community projects. I never imagined that would lead into getting to paint a permanent mural for the dining hall space at my college where students practiced their Spanish and Portuguese over meals. The honor was immense, as was the incredible challenge and learning experience I was thrown into, going from improvised spray painting to a planned, meticulous mural full of color matching and professional techniques my professor Nanette Yanuzzi-Macias taught me along the way |
Furniture
Building the Furniture for You
I've never liked mass market furniture. Standard one size fits all designs always bothered me. I always got really excited thinking of small details that could change in the furniture around me to improve daily tasks and usability. I started designing furniture with this mind set, to first learn and clear up the kinks in my own work by making furniture perfect for my lifestyle, then take my skills and techniques to my community and build furniture that matches the needs of the user. I hope to build for learning spaces, libraries, and similar communities to make the spaces fun and engaging. I hope to inspire curiosity wherever I go, and one problem area I see hampering that, and dragging down on the fun and learning that could be had in school and office environments, is the furniture and building design. I'm excited to keep improving on my skills and building exciting spaces that everyone can enjoy.
