Education Can't Mean Indoctrination: Building Liberatory Learning in Community
My senior Capstone for my Africana Studies degree at Oberlin College discusses problem points in the U.S.A.'s education system, and offers a philosophy and set of priorities crucial to designing a system that truly serves its students.
My academic research focuses on an education system designed to create ideal factory workers, and maintain a cheap labor force. I have researched the reasons for why our system is flawed at its core and inception, and directly opposes our growth as a culture and community. I focus on learning proven methods for community learning, and especially how communities of color have been impacted by and resist the violence coming from our government's systems. I believe that education can be a pivotal and foundation point for liberation, and can be rebuilt to be a force of good and change for everyone.
