Tapioca Legos, May 2018

Plaster, Tapioca, Dende. Cast from a rubber mold. These pieces were designed from a wood block I made to interlock. This is the first test run, where I made a sculpture out of 32 blocks. In the next iteration I hope to use more tapioca, and improve the mixture for a more flexible and sturdy block interlocking that allows viewers to play with the blocks themselves and create new forms. The goal of this project is to bring legos to the gallery, and allow for anyone to be immersed in the experience of designing and installing in the art world

The Girl and the Unicorn, July 2013

Sand, Water. One of the first sculptures I completed. A collaboration with David Bryant and his dad, Bill Bryant. Together we sculpted the Unicorn head and mane in unison, with me sculpting the left side of the face, and David the right. We won Best on the Beach for the sand castle competition in Erie, PA, winning the shirts we are both pictured wearing. The experience was life changing for me, working with a close friend and loving the process that was new for both of us, realizing we could create near identical halves to a model we had never made before.
